Cayenne pepper, is a variety of Capsicum Annuum. It owes its name to the city of Cayenne (Cayenne) in French Guiana where the spice originated from. From the Americas, it was brought to Europe through expeditions.
In a 2002 study, participants ingested five daily cayenne pepper capsules, 15 minutes before meals, achieving a reduction in epigastric pain, bloating and nausea, higher than that observed in placebo.
In the last 15 years, there have been many investigations pointing out the benefits of cayenne pepper. One of them, reported in the Journal of Life Sciences, extols the tea's powers with this spice in reducing inflammation.
Use / Conservation
Use cayenne with some precaution. When applying externally concentrations of Capsaicin (0.025 to 0.5%), are applied at the pain site twice a day. Internally, it can be ingested in a dry extract between 500 to 1000 mg per day. As a condiment, the amount depends on tolerance and taste.
